Where hipsters come to breed – Alameda!

Look what was parked just around the corner! It's a classic, like so many Alameda homes!

This photo tells it all: Tree-lined streets, a classic car, and a classic home (which is not for sale)!

We are having a ginormous growth-spurt in Alameda. What was a quite Navy town, after WWII, has burst its seems. Old buildings coming down, replaced by either new housing that can run into the youngish 7 figures, or with plans for more new housing.

The Alameda Naval Air Station which was limited to the military and civilian workers, is now jumping with start-ups and restaurants, and…. more housing.

What were the quiet tree-lined streets are crying out for our old trolley cars, running up and down Lincoln Ave, going end to end. I wonder how they would look these days, with the current upgrades? (The trolleys were long before my time!)

Who knew what was to become today, since the quiet town of the 1950-1980’s became the scene for hipsters who come to Alameda to breed!

Maybe it’s a new stairway to a piece of heaven.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! www.MarilynSchumacher.com to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
