Spring in Alameda!

2016-03-14 14.06.28
Wished I was doing what they were doing! Instead I was riding my bike through Crown Beach. sistas from another mother…

I don’t know about you, but I know that I’m pretty tired of the current interior paints: gray, gray-browns, light and dark grays, muted anything. I think we may be seeing the end of a trend..but I don’t know what will be next.

I hope it could be some type of feature walls: full of artwork, or at least something bright, not dead-like! Maybe my almost 2 year old grandson could paint a hot mess: that might be interesting.

And I don’t know what is so special about stainless steel. It demands constant cleaning to get the finger prints off. How do parents do it, with all of those hands all over everything? But I do know that the newer refrigs are super organizable.

This is what my daughter said to me before she went back to New Zealand. “Maybe you could have Chris take down that flocked wall-paper in the hallway, near the guest bathroom! He did such a great job changing out the sink and toilet in that half bath!”

What? Who knows how long that flocked wallpaper has been there? Certainly before we owned the house…maybe 50-75+ years?

But when you are working on an antique house in Alameda, who knows what is behind that wallpaper? And because plaster is keeping the wall up, how much of the wall will fall apart?

Yeah, I know she’s right. Maybe it might get done before she comes back to Alameda, next year. But I wouldn’t place any bets on that!

But for me…it’s always worth it to pay for a pro. Because that person can do it better, faster, and more precise than I can. And do it right the first time.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
