Boomer-Chick-Musings.com  who knew that a family and a plane would generate such chatter on Facebook! check it out…

A week ago I needed to send a FedEx envelope to some Sellers who live out of town. Normally we use an electronic signature program (I subscribe to Docusign – IMHO it’s the best program out there). But this time we needed wet sigs. And so my clients complied and sent the envelope back to me.

Fun…that’s what I called this week’s broker tour. FUN!

It felt like I rode 20 miles, but I’m quite sure it wasn’t that. But I got all 12 properties into that one stop-and-go ride…from almost to the Harbor Bay Ferry and back around 94502, then worked my way over to 94501 and rode zig-zagging my way up towards Alameda Point. Then it was all downwind on Shoreline towards home. A great ride: flat, sunny, and not too hot!

I’ve been riding my bike on the tour almost since I’ve been in the biz. Sometimes I would stuff our kids into our bike trailer and ride the 3 of us around. Where else, but Alameda, can you have the privilege of doing this…or going to the store, running errands, meeting folks who want to view a house, or meeting up with friends at local eateries…all by bike?

My late husband and I knew that Alameda was unique when we moved here from Newport Beach, right after getting married. It was a bit rough in a town that seemed rooted in time, but both of us and Alameda survived.

Who knew that this would be such a fabulous place to be for raising kids, attending church, central to everything bay and water related? Both of our kids were part of Encinal Yacht Club’s sailing programs, the after-school soccer teams and more. And both of them went racing with their dad on his boat/yacht designs around San Francisco Bay, often winning or placing in those races.

We have been so blessed by Alameda and our dear friends (who are like family members), some of whom have lived here most of their lives!

Alameda has found its niche on the sunny side of the bay and now folks all over the bay area know about it and want to be here. I am so glad I came along for the ride with Carl.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! www.MarilynSchumacher.com to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
