Welcome to the New/Old blog…it’s been a long drive to get here, but my Web Meister, Stuart Cox, has been working on this for a bit (read it: a long time).
And now we’ve (read: he) has merged the blog into my website. So you can go to one place to find most of the info that you may want about Alameda! The blog, about me, about the town, some videos that we shot (with my cameraman John Kabasalakis), local resources, a place for Sellers, a place for Buyers (and both have FAQs)!
If you aren’t busy playing the solitaire game of Free Cell, take a look and let me know what you think. Just email or call directly. Comments are graciously accepted – good, bad, or with suggestions.
Alameda Real Estate Awards this week…remember this is only my perspective!
I’m out of rehab! “New” Victorian! This has gone through a complete renovation, including doubling the square footage (now it’s 2560 sf per the MLS). Whether you love it or not…you’ve got to give the owners credit! This was sold in June 2013 for 500K on a $399,999 list price. Now it’s being sold for 1.197M
Get me a makeover a well-located, 5 unit building. I supposed it was once a single family home (no guaranty of that) but it was converted into units a long time ago. It was surprising how large a couple of the units are, the pest is very low, the hardwood floors need to be refinished but are super nice. If somebody puts some $$ into it, it would be reborn as a true gem!
Have a great weekend!
Call me if you have questions….I will search for answers if I don’t have them!
best, marilyn

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull.
Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! www.MarilynSchumacher.com to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
