THE SECOND STORY | May 28th, 2015

Alameda honors those who gave, and those who gave all.

I decided to go the Veteran’s Memorial Park on Memorial Day. It had been too long since I’ve gone to the that service. I rode my bike to the small park in 94502, just over the BFI bridge, tucked at the foot of Veteran’s Court (an immediate right turn once you come onto Island Drive).  It was cloudy both in the sky and in my heart.

I was surprised to see that the young woman in front of me stood up when the Marine Corps was called. She served, and survived, in Afghanistan. I wish I had thanked her for her service. Next time I will make my appreciation known to others who have served. I really missed an opportunity. ugh. What I think about when I’m not thinking real estate!  Customer service? ha!

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
