THE SECOND STORY | April 9th, 2015

Looking outside while waiting inside…in Alameda!

What do you do when you are in a house, waiting for a customer to arrive? I take photos of                                          amazing old windows with my cell phone. This was taken this week.   My small world in a nutshell.

Lots of talk about water, sewers, electricity, gas, and garbage these days.

-I guess it takes a CA governor to declare an official drought to make it rain.
-I guess the City of Alameda (like most US cities) will be charging more for sewers because the infrastructures have been ignored for so long.
-I guess it takes a big rebate to get folks to go solar.
-I guess it takes a threat (or a full execution) of fines and penalties from Alameda County Industries (waste management i.e weekly garbage, green, and recycling providers) to get multi-unit property occupants to stop throwing the recyclables into the garbage.
-I guess it takes a big advertising campaign and a bigger budget to get PGE to tell us how much their employees love their jobs. (And I do think they are all fine people.) But how about advertising how PGE  is making the infrastructure safe for all of us?
-And I guess I’m in a rather sarcastic(but upbeat) mood!

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
