THE SECOND STORY | October 9th, 2014

Alameda has…pumpkins!

Pumpkins!  You need not head to the pumpkin patch if you don’t want to.  I was riding by Dan’s Produce (Central and Oak), stopped by to get some salad fixings…and these colors made me stop to take a photo!
my take on what life offers…..

This week has the most price changes (as in reductions) we’ve seen in maybe the last 2+ years?  All of six of them.  But it says that some properties are sitting around, waiting (kind of like the pumpkins in the photo)!  When there is a PCH (price change), if it’s the right amount, it can drive that price up!   The goal is to get folks interested…once again.

Bitch of the week…all of my buyer prospects have been complaining about the ‘long shot’ views of the houses in the photos.  For Alameda, some of these shots make the yard look like the lower 40, instead of the patch of grass that says ‘I’m over here!’  Folks are tired of looking at the pictures (most are done very well) and stepping into a house saying…’I think this is the wrong one, Marilyn.’  ‘Um yeah, no.  This is the right one.  Fooled you didn’t I?’

The inventory is quite varied…and the older houses that have been fixed up (not just in the hotsy-totsy ‘hoods) show really well.

The buyers today like Alameda, like riding bikes, like being close to public transport (bus, BART, ferry), like being able to walk places (Alameda Theatre, beach, estuary, farmer’s market).  While it’s nice to travel, I like living right where I am.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
