Autumn in Alameda…

I love so many things about fall.  The colors are striking…from the autumn leaves (that was song back in my parents’ days) to the blue color of the sky.  We get it all in Alameda!

If you have a chance, the pleasure, or the regret of obtaining a permit starting this past Wednesday…the Permit Center has been completely rearranged and remodeled!  It is so much more consumer friendly.  It has a real waiting area with soft chairs: no more bodies tripping over feet in a squished area.  The long, long counter is perfect for rolling out plans for planning, or obtaining a permit history, or a permit.

It’s been a long time coming…and now it’s here.  I expect some folks, like me, will not be walking on the floor…because Alameda island is now on it…as an aerial shot from above!  For at least a while I will walk around the cool photo.  Check it out if you are visiting somebody in City Hall…first floor straight down the hallway from the Oak Street entry!

NEW SUBJECT=Alameda Point Bike Ride
What a great day for a tour of Alameda Point.  There were over 100 of us.  And we got to ride where I haven’t been for many years…almost out to the bay on one of the taxiways.  This was a brilliant idea from the city staff to inform folks about what the place might be and what would be going where.  It’s a huge project but it’s easy to see that it’s one of a kind, from a planner’s point of view.  Unique!  Maybe in my lifetime it will take some shape….

Shameless self-promotion…if you are bored or curious…check out the page under the The Second Story header for the Marilyn got the job DONE for us!  The Sellers of 1731 Clinton wrote a super nice letter for the blog.   What a pleasure to represent them!

Broker Tour Tues  7 on the tour..(1 was a repeat).  I rode my bike to 4 of them on the main island! Super nice day!

ALAMEDA REAL ESTATE AWARDS THIS WEEK..remember this is only my perspective!
Most unique lot line  this is a split lot (2 separate parcels/owners).  The house is in the back with 4 garages up front, as you drive in.  Each garage is rented…good money, no tenants to hassle with. Not much charm, but a smart owner.  This is known as a flag lot (looks like a flag from overhead.
Pacific Ave has it all  I love Pacific Avenue…it really does represent Alameda…from huge units (like these) to Victorians, to junk properties, to elegant bungalows.
I’m in here…somewhere! This is one owner’s take on not seeing Fernside and surrounding the owner with what she wants to see!  It’s a nice house!

OK!  That’s a wrap!  Have a great weekend!  Pray for some rain!  Be well.

best, marilyn

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
