Glassworks…not Alameda.

Dale Chihuly and his glass blowing shop creates amazing artwork.  I was surprised to see that my son, Evan and his wife, Erin, were celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary in Seattle where Chihuly is based.

This was a scene from a display at the DeYoung Museum (I think) a few years ago, that I shot.  Not Alameda, but it was spectacular!  And E&E sent me some shots that were spectacular.

If you are in the mood for fall cleaning (and really who isn’t? she said like the clean freak she is), here’s a homemade (not by me) drain cleaning (not a drain clear-er), if you need it.  A friend asked me yesterday about this recipe.  So I thought others might like to know it, too.  I’ve used this for years.  Keep in mind it’s a drain cleaner, not a clearer (no clogs).  And it’s a good science experiment to show kids.

Drain Cleaning Recipe
Add the following in this order to the drain…
1 cup salt
1 cup baking SODA
1 cup vinegar
then 30 seconds later, add two quarts hot/boiling water…and watch it work!

Shameless self-promotion.

That’s a wrap!  Make it work!  Come see me at 409 Sunset (toward South Shore Beach on Grand, take a right onto Shoreline, take the next immediate right)!  Look for a FOR SALE sign!

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
