THE SECOND STORY | September 27th, 2013

Look mom! the windows move!

This is a window on Pacific Ave, looking from the inside out.

I’ve taken a few photos of windows that seem to make a statement. But the best statement came from a little boy at an open house I was having.  He said to his mother, “Look mom!  The windows move!”

He wasn’t talking about an earthquake.  He was observing a liquid!  I sure have a hard time believing that glass is a liquid when I’ve cut myself with what seems to be very solid stuff!

And what he observed was about 100+ years worth of windows moving, very slowly, and creating to him, a moving window with lines and squigglies, shifting around over the decades.

The listing I have on has moving glass! And the yard is still quite beautiful when viewed that way!

My clients have an accepted offer on their lovely home at

Broker tour Tues!  There were 12…and I was busy at my own open house that day!

ALAMEDA REAL ESTATE AWARDS THIS WEEK…remember this is only my perspective!
Cute, charming  (my listing on Union)
A little TLC?  (know the exterior of this house when we lived around the corner)
Get me a facelift (this is from agents who have seen it, but lovely loca and a nice exterior)
Best view of the bay today (I’ve sold these units and the top floor is the best, & they have a single car detached garage, and an in-unit laundry!  But this sounds a bit wonky..buyer pays for ordinance compliance (gas shut off valve), as is sale, and seller won’t pay for anything.  Oh well, it could work in this market!

Have a great week…make it work, carry on, and that’s a wrap!

best, marilyn

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
