Independence Day —Alameda style!

We’ve got a parade that won’t stop in Alameda.  This year there were 174 entries…and it was quite hot, literally!

This town takes the holiday seriously!  After putting my Tommy Bahama beachchair – backpack – cool pack – drink holder on  my  back for the short 1.5 blocks to the parade (and lunch after it all marched by), I rode my bike to the post parade party, and then to back to the ‘hood for a potluck dinner!

BOOMER-CHICK-MUSINGS – my take on whatever may be happening out there!

Why do folks improve their backyards?  You’ll see below…plus think about today, Independence Day…it’s a great place to be with family and/or friends!

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
