THE SECOND STORY | March 14th, 2013

Inventory is beginning to pop in Alameda!

I don’t know one person, older or younger, who wants to be in the position above.  If people have a choice while they have their minds, think about the type of house you’d like to live in for a long time…and then over the years, you can make it work!
I have often thought that the Golden Girls TV show had it right.  It seems like the kitchen, living room, and dining area are in the middle of the house, with doors leading to the back yard.  Then each of the chicks has her own wing off the middle.
So where is this magic house?  I really don’t know.  But I think there should be a number of them in decent locations (not that there is anything wrong with the middle section of the U.S.), but it seems to me climate (as in nice) with some indication of winter without snow, and summer that doesn’t call for living indoors in daytime (as in Phoenix) is a possibility.
How would it look?  I think the TV show (yes, I know it’s a stage set), lends itself to single level.
How would it be owned?  That’s a tough one.  It might be best if the chicks had a rental…with some type of right of refusal to turn a new applicant away, if there isn’t a match.  And if a place goes vacant for too long the residents have the privilege of paying for a vacant unit.  I can’t quite get my head around owning such a great place with so many other owners…may be kind of difficult, but might be done!
But it does give you something to think about when you are riding your bike or taking a walk.  And when I say YOU…I mean both the Millenials, and the Boomers.

I’m out of rehab!  here are the before an after photos…this is a flip.
Get me to rehab…quick! pictures do this place great…but you need all cash, or a rehab loan, or a conventional renovation loan…too much done w/o permits….if you have questions call me.
This is a wrap!  Make it work!  Carry on!  Questions?  Give me a call or email!
best, marilyn

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
