THE SECOND STORY | June 28th, 2012

Happy Independence Day!

If you aren’t doing anything…give the 4th of July Parade a try!  It’s a blast!  It starts on Park Street and Lincoln, and goes down Park, to right on Otis, to right on Grand, to left on Encinal (merges into Central) to right on Webster!
Where else could you see a Gay Pride float next to a local conservative church’s float!
I’ll be watching around Clinton and Grand. See you there!

Boomer Chick Musings
One chick’s take on life today (me!)

I attended a community meeting, lead by Public Works, regarding a bike bath expansion along Shoreline Drive.  It was the second one, the first being in May.  You may have seen the “eat-at Joe’s” signs along various locations on Otis and Shoreline.  Those aren’t so good because it’s hard to stop and read them!
It was held at Lum School auditorium and I bet about 90 citizens were there.  The money is coming from some government/public entity other than the city of Alameda.  After a brief presentation, the nine groups were facilitated by city employees, one at each table.  And each group presented their own version of what had been initially done at the first meeting but with revisions.
The city is NOT throwing their preconceived viewpoint into this.  It’s about reaching citizens across the board and turning it into a project by the city folk.  The next meeting will be in the fall.  Public Works will have a chance to distill the ideas and we’ll do it again…refining and defining the goal.  Good job!  YAY!  So this is big real estate (like the beach, road, condos, houses)!
Highest and Lowest Priced NEW Listings this week. I’m not sure the listing on St. Charles has had any repairs…I saw it a bit ago.  So it may not be what you think.
Active listings this week  87

ALAMEDA REAL ESTATE AWARDS THIS WEEK…this is only my perspective!
I’ve got the slopes (i.e. send me down the bunny hill)

That’s a wrap!  Make it work!  Put out a flag!  Despite the challenges in the world,  I like our government!

best, marilyn

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
