THE SECOND STORY | June 24th, 2011

All is right with the world…well my little Alameda world.

Blog photo: I have admired the wall of flowers on the side of one of the neighbor’s homes.  I finally took the photo this afternoon and was able to include the row of lavender (?) on the adjacent neighbor’s home.  Nice to look at…lovely to live near!

Blog post:  This will be brief.  If you haven’t heard…South Shore Center (created in 1958) which became Alameda Towne Centre in 2002, ( Towny Centry as I called it), is once again back to Alameda South Shore Center with the tag of  ‘Come shop at the beach!’  The new owners got the message that Alamedans just weren’t giving up on South Shore.

Now if we can only figure out how to afford the pay increases the city council just gave to the firefighters this week, we might see a bit more of the all’s well in Alameda finances.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull. Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
