The apple tree in the backyard gives and gives – enough for many friends, plus the birds and the squirrels. I picked at least another three dozen the other night, filling a crate over the top. Alameda’s propensity to grow amazing fruits, vegetables, and flowers keeps me in awe.
My exceptional young friend and neighbor took this picture of the back yard apple sign a couple of years ago. And the sign was given to me several years ago by my sister-in -law, Kim, another dear friend, one of the more creative people I know! Sweet!

I’m saving comments until next week about the proposed increase in transfer taxes (the chunk of change paid by buyers and sellers when properties sell, currently $5.40 per each $1000 of sales price, scheduled to go to $12 per thousand.

I arrived in Alameda in 1973, as a new bride...with husband Carl Schumacher, both of us from Newport Beach. He was embarking on his career as a Naval Architect (i.e. yacht designer) under Gary Mull.
Please see the 'ABOUT ME' page in this website! www.MarilynSchumacher.com to see how it has all turned out! I'm so blessed!
